玻璃鳞片树脂防腐材料主要由分散不连续的玻璃鳞片及粘稠树脂，经专用设备混合而成的胶泥状复合材料。故它的施工作业是通过施工者用抹子，灰刀等工具按一定厚度要求涂抹到被防护表面，在经除泡滚除泡，压实、压光，且使玻璃鳞片按一定方向折压排列后固化成型的，其施工作业类似于建筑抹灰作业。担由于树脂与水泥材料的特性不同，应用目的亦不同，故其涂抹作业较之抹灰又提出了更高更难的要求。
